Sokołowsko
Sokołowsko
‘Silesian Davos’ – that’s what Sokołowsko, a picturesque village in the Stone Mountains, used to be called. It is a former spa town that operated between 1854 and 1991, once a well-known climatic health resort. The largest building in Sokołowsko is the former Grunwald sanatorium, built in 1871 – one of the first tuberculosis sanatoriums in the world. The film director Krzysztof Kieślowski lived here in his youth.
